Across the wheel

Opposites, a second kind of bond

Opposites on the wheel are the second bond between elements, after partners. Blood and Light recognise who you belong to, Water and Fire make things together, and Time and Iron stay.

Every element has two kinds of kin: its partner, and the one facing it across the wheel.

Blood and Light recognise: Light knows whose you are. Water and Fire create: that's the engine, where water quenches fire and the struggle makes something. Time and Iron stay: what lasts, and what wears it down, which is rust. Spirit and Sound hold the centre: the first pair, the word the world was spoken with.
