The Eight
Four pairs, eight elements
The Eight are the elements of Creek World: Spirit, Sound, Blood, Water, Light, Time, Fire and Iron. They come in four pairs, and in each pair one gives the meaning and one gets things done. Custom says a person holds two at most, but three have been seen in one person.
There are eight elements, in four true pairs. In each pair, the spirit-side means something and the flesh-side makes it happen.
Spirit and Sound: meaning, and the word that makes it act. Blood and Water: the line, and passage. Light and Time: telling apart, and duration. Fire and Iron: transformation, and material.
Spirit with no flesh is meaning that changes nothing. Flesh with no spirit is effect that means nothing. Every element is spirit given a particular shape and a particular job.
Elements run in the bloodline, though not always from your parents. Custom says two at most. Three have been seen in one person, so there may be more. Holding an element twice is the same as holding it once.
