Temeama

Temeama is the first land you reach from the sea, and the gate to Woyengi's country. In the drift its Sound died, and nobody sang the family names for a hundred years. Tari is bringing Sound home.

Temeama is the gate. It's the first land you meet coming in from the sea, an outer island between the Nun and Brass mouths, and it marks Woyengi's territory. The name means the place of teme: spirit, soul, life, creation, self.

Its people come from Grove, the forest interior: heads of houses, and healers. They favour their own. Their pact is the Praise Contract, under which houses hire heralds to sing their lineage.

The flaw is that honour can be bought. Then, in the drift, Storm died here. Nobody was left to sing, and the family names went unsaid for a century. Warmth went with Storm: no outreach, no welcome.

Tari is the Called who carries Sound home. Temeama's rising stirred the whole nation, and now the Called are coming home everywhere.
